Dehradun/IBNS: Shops getting washed away, roads inundated and debris piled up on streets are some of the visuals that have emerged from Dehradun fighting with a cloudburst caused by very heavy rainfall on Tuesday, media reports said.

Several rivers have swelled up while two people are missing in the Sahastradhara area since the downpour.

Some shops were washed away by the force of the swollen rivers in the wee hours of Tuesday, Hindustan Times reported.

The area residents were evacuated last night, as per officials in the district administration.

Locals have claimed that this was a cloudburst but we are verifying those facts. A few shops have been washed away but there has been no loss of human life."
