Tripura and other North Eastern states are the pillars of India's Act East Policy - Vice President

Praises glorious history and rich cultural heritage of Tripura

Praising  the long history and rich cultural heritage of Tripura, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in his maiden visit to Tripura, who  arrived in the state capital on Tuesday morning termed his day long visit to the state as ‘memorable and marvelous’ journey of his life.

Soon after his arrival at Agartala, the Vice President has given rousing welcome by the Governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister of state, Pratima Bhowmik, chief secretary and DGP along with other top officials, Dhankhar left the city towards Udaipur town through a Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper. After arriving at Udaipur, Dhankhar along with wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar offer their prayer at Mata Tripura Sundari temple in presence of Chief Minister, Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and local MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh.

During the visit, he was briefed about the development work being undertaken at the renowned Shaktipeeth. "The holy Shaktipeeth emanates sublimity and welfare for humanity. Gratifying to note that a well thought out, massive development is taking shape at this revered ancient Temple," he said.

The Vice President also said that before the next Diwali festival, the marvelous structures around the Mata Tripura Sundari temple will be ready and will attract more and more devotees from different parts of the country.

Then, again left the temple town towards Agartala by IAF chopper and landed at Assam Rifles ground and through by road, the Vice President arrived at MBB College campus and attended a seminar on “New horizon of educational development in Tripura” at the Rabindra Hall of the  College campus in presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Describing his maiden visit to the Northeastern state as a memorable one, Dhankhar said that he was touched by the warmth and affection shown by people of Tripura. "I share your aspirations and dreams," he told them.

Dhankhar complimented the state on its numerous achievements in the field of education, including the steps taken towards implementation of New Education Policy -2020. "It is a well thought out policy aimed at transformation of our education sector and to make India a Vishwa Guru again," he said.

Praising the glorious history and rich cultural heritage of the state, the Vice President said that Tripura and other North Eastern states are the pillars of India's Act East Policy.

Dhankhar also appealed to the students to follow fundamental duties as these would help them become better citizens of the country.

Dhankhar, mentioning his experience after the visit to Tripureswari temple, said  that the "unique" Tripureswari temple is also getting developed and he looked forward to coming back to it again.

They spent over 30 minutes at the temple of Goddess  Tripureshwari , where people of any religion can offer Puja.

Praising the developmental activities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Dhankhar Tripura moved towards a developing state of the country. He said India is fifth economic power of the world and now all global leaders listening the words of Prime Minister and gave importance of his thoughts for world peace

While, before the speech of Vice President at the seminar, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in his speech at the seminar said that without education nobody can move forward and in past five years, Tripura not only get progress in education sector, but the state is moving towards self-reliant state of the country by developing in every sectors. He said that soon the lone Dental college of the state will start its academic activities  and for a third medical college in the state, land has been identified at Ambassa area of Dhalai district.

Speaking in the seminar, Education Minister Ratan Lan Nath through his ‘Hindi’ speech highlighted the transformation of the Education scenario of the state during the past five years and recalled the achievements of the state in the education sector.

Dhankhar also held interaction with the Governor, Shri Satyadeo Narain Arya and other dignitaries at Raj Bhawan, Agartala. After his Tripura visit, the Vice President departed for his onward journey to Kolkata from Agartala Airport, where he was bid farewell by the Governor of Tripura, Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister, Prof (Dr) Manik Saha and other dignitaries.
