In a social media post, FSSAI highlighted its recent enforcement drive against major food and beverage companies, saying the notices were issued for various violations of food safety laws and regulations.

"Over 150 notices issued for misleading advertisements, false claims & labelling non-compliances," the regulator said.

Major food, beverage brands under scanner

According to FSSAI, several prominent companies have faced regulatory action in recent months.

The list includes Nestle India, PepsiCo, Abbott India, Red Bull India, Danone India, Monster Energy India, Hell Energy, Mondelez India, Coca-Cola India, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Ferrero India and Kenvue Inc.

The regulator said action was also taken against companies operating in the energy drink and alcoholic beverage segments, with products seized in several cases over alleged violations.

Amazon, Flipkart also receive notices

The enforcement drive has also extended to e-commerce platforms.

FSSAI said it issued 12 notices to Amazon and Flipkart, while the licence of one Amazon warehouse was cancelled.

The regulator has also been monitoring food products and their sale through online channels as part of its broader enforcement efforts.

KFC, McDonald's, Domino's among food chains facing action

FSSAI said it issued more than 30 notices to food service establishments, including major chains such as KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Domino's and Costa Coffee.

The regulator also suspended five licences of Domino's as part of its enforcement action.

Last year, FSSAI had also issued notices to several five-star hotels over alleged violations.

Companies taking corrective steps

The food regulator said earlier this week that several companies have begun taking corrective measures following the notices issued by FSSAI.

The latest enforcement action comes as the regulator steps up scrutiny of food businesses, advertisements, product claims and labelling practices to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
