China will resume supply of fertilisers, rare earth minerals and tunnel boring machines to India: Report

Beijing/IBNS: China will resume supply of fertilisers, rare earth minerals and tunnel boring machines to India, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured this to India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as the two South Asian giants have normalised their ties, media reports said.

Wang Yi  and Jaishankar had a fruitful meeting during the Chinese Foreign Minister's two-day India visit that began on Monday.

As per a report by Hindustan Times, Jaishankar had raised the issue of supplies of urea, NPK and DAP, rare earth minerals and TBM with Yi during his visit to China last month.

China had paused the exports to India in these areas for nearly a year.

"Highlighted that our relations are best guided by the three mutuals - mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest. As we seek to move ahead from a difficult period in our ties, it needs a candid and constructive approach from both sides.

"Had productive conversations on our economic and trade issues, pilgrimages, people-to-people contacts, river data sharing, border trade, connectivity and bilateral exchanges. Also exchanged views on global and regional issues. Confident that our discussions today would contribute to building a stable, cooperative and forward-looking relationship between India and China," Jaishankar said meeting Yi.

Meanwhile, the border issues will be raised by India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval during his meeting with Yi on Tuesday.

The fact of India and China coming close again succeeding the bitter relationship for about four-five since the Galwan clash comes in the backdrop of the United States' tariffs war with both the nations.

The Trump administration has imposed tax on both India and China for buying oil from Russia.

The meeting also occurred ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.

The regional bloc's summit will be held in Tianjin city from August 31 to September 1.

Yi's visit signals the resumption of top-level Delhi-Beijing contact - this is his first visit to India in three years since the deadly Galwan clash in 2020.
