The DMRC said necessary action would be taken against anyone found shooting such videos within Metro premises.
DMRC issues warning to content creators
In a social media post, the DMRC said it had noticed some social media content creators pasting their mobile phones on Metro train windows and recording videos while the train was moving.
"The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has noticed that some social media content creators are pasting their mobile phones on the Metro train windows and shooting videos with the moving train."
The corporation warned that such acts could pose risks to passengers as well as the devices being used to record the videos.
"This act can cause inconvenience or even injury to other passengers and can damage the mobile phone devices of the users. DMRC authorities are viewing this with all seriousness and if any content creator is caught indulging in such a shoot, necessary action shall be taken."
The DMRC further directed content creators not to shoot such videos anywhere within its premises.
"Therefore, the content creators are hereby directed to not shoot such videos within the Delhi Metro premises."
What prompted the DMRC warning?
The warning comes amid the growing popularity of a viral video trend involving smartphones being attached to moving Metro trains to create cinematic shots.
Delhi-based content creator Nikhil Kochar reportedly posted a video in which a smartphone was attached to the exterior/window area of a moving Delhi Metro train. As the train began moving, Kochar ran alongside it, creating the effect of a phone being left behind.
The video reportedly went viral, crossing 135 million views, following which similar videos began appearing on social media.
The trend appears to have prompted concerns over the safety of passengers and the creators attempting to recreate the stunt, eventually leading to the DMRC's warning.
