Election Commission defers Haryana polling date to October 5, counting of votes to take place on October 8
The Election Commission of India on Saturday deferred assembly polls date for Haryana from October 1 to October 5.
No change was announced to the voting date for third phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls.
It will be held on October 1 as announced previously by the polling body.
The election result for Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will be announced on October 8.
The Election Commission said in a notification: "Subsequently, representations have been received from National Political Parties, State Political Party and All India Bishnoi Mahasabha regarding mass movement of people of Bishnoi community of Haryana to Rajasthan to participate in centuries old Asoj Amavasya festival celebration."
" It may deny voting rights to large number of people and may lead to reduce voters’ participation in general election to legislative assembly of Haryana," it said.
