From Lalu’s family to military uniform: Grandson begins tough training in Singapore
Patna/IBNS: Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s grandson Aditya has begun his military training in Singapore after completing his pre-university studies.
Aditya is the son of Rohini Acharya, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, who shared the update on her X handle, expressing pride as her elder son stepped into military life at the age of 18.
“Today my heart is filled with pride. After completing his pre-university studies, our eldest son Aditya has gone for Basic Military Training. You are brave, courageous and disciplined. Go and show what you’re made of. Always remember that warriors are forged in the toughest battles of life,” Rohini wrote in an emotional post.

Aditya is the elder son of Rohini Acharya and Samaresh Singh, who is the son of former Income Tax Commissioner-rank officer Rao Ranvijay Singh. He has two younger siblings.
Aditya has begun Basic Military Training (BMT), which is the foundational phase of military training under Singapore’s National Service (NS) framework, a mandatory programme for male citizens and permanent residents.
In Singapore, BMT is conducted mainly at the Pulau Tekong Basic Military Training Centre and aims to transform civilians into disciplined soldiers by imparting physical fitness, military skills, and core values such as resilience, teamwork, and loyalty.
The training typically lasts nine weeks, and may extend to 17 weeks for enhanced leadership tracks, following which recruits continue the remainder of their two-year National Service in specialised or vocational roles within the Singapore Armed Forces.
