Giriraj Singh slams Mamata after Bihar students appearing for Bengal exams assaulted
Kolkata/IBNS: Two students from Bihar, who reached West Bengal to participate in an examination meant for recruitment, were assaulted by two men for taking part in a test outside their state, media reports said.
Rajat Bhattacharya, who is reportedly linked to Bangla Pokkho (an organisation that advocates Bengali culture), has been arrested in connection with the incident which took place in Siliguri.
In a viral video, two men including Rajat were seen entering into a room where the two Bihar students were lying down.
The students were asked about their origins, questioned for their attendance in Bengal examinations and were forced to promise that they would leave the state.

The two men, who were asking the students for documents, assaulted and forced them to do sit-ups.
While Ankit Yadav, one of the students, claimed they were assigned an exam centre in Siliguri, the two men who barged into the room asked them how they could attend it despite not hailing from the state.
Tagging Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, Union Minister Giriraj Singh slammed Mamata on X saying, "Red carpet for Rohingya Muslims in Bengal and Bihar kid beaten up for taking exam? Are these children not part of India? Has Mamata government taken the contract of only saving rapists?"

Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan wrote on X, "The news of brutal assault on Bihari students in West Bengal is very unfortunate and condemnable. The Chief Minister of that state has once again insulted the Biharis, which cannot be tolerated at all. I want to ask Mamata Banerjee ji, is it a crime to take an exam in West Bengal?
"Will the opposition party leaders still remain silent? I want to ask the Leader of Opposition of Bihar, on what basis will you support the Trinamool Congress now. I request the Honorable Chief Minister Shri @NitishKumar-ji to get the matter thoroughly investigated and take legal action against the culprits."
