New Delhi: An IAS officer serving in the Arunachal Pradesh government has been mandated to retire by the government, media reported citing sources on Wednesday.

Rinku Dugga, a 1994-batch AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre officer, held the position of Principal Secretary, Indigenous Affairs in Arunachal Pradesh, a report in the media said.

Last year, she and her husband Sanjeev Khirwar, also a 1994-batch IAS officer currently posted in Ladakh, were transferred from Delhi following a newspaper report that they cleared a stadium of athletes to walk their dog.

Dugga's compulsory retirement is based on an evaluation of her service record under the Fundamental Rules (FR) 56(j), Rule 48 of Central Civil Services (CCS) Pension Rules, 1972, as per the sources, the report added.

According to the sources cited by the report the government possesses the authority to retire any government servant "if it is of the opinion that it is in the public interest to do so.
