India condemns Iran supreme leader's comment on treatment of Muslims
New Delhi/IBNS: India has condemned Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's remark on the treatment of Muslims in the South Asian country.
In a post on X, Khamenei said as quoted by NDTV, "We cannot consider ourselves to be Muslims if we are oblivious to the suffering that a Muslim is enduring in #Myanmar, #Gaza, #India, or any other place."
In reply, India's Ministry of External Affairs said, "We strongly deplore the comments made regarding minorities in India by the Supreme Leader of Iran. These are misinformed and unacceptable. Countries commenting on minorities are advised to look at their own record before making any observations about others."
India and Iran have signed a 10-year pact this May for the management of Chabahar Port in Tehran.
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said the pact will help bring more investments to the country.
