Indore MBA student murder: Accused allegedly attempts black magic after killing
Police have revealed chilling details about the murder of an MBA student in the Dwarkapuri area of Indore. The accused, Piyush Dhamnotiya, is currently in a three-day police remand, and investigators say his actions after the crime have sent shockwaves across the city, media reports said.
According to NDTV's police sources, CCTV footage shows Dhamnotiya arriving with the student on February 10, and leaving alone roughly two and a half hours later, carrying a bag.
Investigators say he pressured the student for sex; when she resisted, he allegedly forced himself on her. After tying her hands and feet and blindfolding her, she was strangled following an argument.
Police allege that after the murder, Dhamnotiya remained at the scene, consumed alcohol, and attempted to sexually assault the corpse.
He then fled to Mumbai, destroying the student’s mobile phone along the way.
Authorities further revealed that in Panvel, near Mumbai, Dhamnotiya lit incense sticks and attempted black magic rituals, claiming he wanted to communicate with the spirit of the woman he had killed.
Investigators recovered ropes, a broken knife, and are examining digital evidence, including CCTV footage and mobile content.
The motive, according to police, involved a dispute over marriage plans and alleged jealousy over the student’s interactions on a dating app.
Indore DCP Krishnalal Chandni stated, “The accused had a relationship with the woman. Disputes over marriage and jealousy escalated into this crime. After committing the act, he fled and attempted to destroy evidence. Our teams are examining all recovered material to build the case.”
This case continues to develop as police pursue forensic and digital leads.
