Kamal Haasan set for Rajya Sabha entry as DMK leaves one seat for MNM

Chennai/IBNS: Actor-turned-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan is set for his entry into the Rajya Sabha as Tamil Nadu's ruling party DMK left one seat for its ally in the upcoming elections to the upper house of Parliament.
DMK, headed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, announced candidates for three out of four seats.
In a statement, the ruling party announced it left one seat for MNM.
Stalin announced, "For the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on June 19, 2025, on behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), out of the four seats to be contested, DMK will field candidates for three seats.
"As per an agreement with the opposition, one seat is allotted to Makkal Needhi Maiam."
DMK Candidates
P. Wilson, B.Sc., B.L.: A senior advocate, who served as an Additional Solicitor General of India and Additional Advocate General of the state of Tamil Nadu, was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2019.
S.R. Sivalingam: He was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 1989 and 1996 assembly elections.
Rokkaiya Malik (popularly known as poet Salma): She is an Indian Tamil writer, activist and politician who had unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2006.
