Kannada TV actor Manjula Shruthi stabbed by husband over suspicion of infidelity in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In a disturbing case of domestic violence, Kannada television actor and anchor Manjula Shruthi was brutally attacked by her husband Amresh over alleged suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The incident occurred on July 4 at their rented residence in Muneshwara Layout, under the jurisdiction of the Hanumanthnagar police station, but has only now come to light, reported NDTV.
Shruthi, known for her performances in popular serials such as Amruthadhaare, had been married to Amresh for nearly two decades. The couple has two children.
According to sources, their relationship had grown increasingly strained in recent years, leading to Shruthi moving out three months ago and staying with her brother.
The couple had also been locked in a dispute over house lease money, prompting Shruthi to file a police complaint at the Hanumanthnagar station.
Despite ongoing tensions, the two reportedly reconciled last Thursday.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Amresh allegedly assaulted Shruthi the very next day while their children were away at college.
Police say Amresh first used pepper spray on Shruthi and then proceeded to stab her multiple times in the ribs, neck, and thigh.
He also allegedly smashed her head against a wall.
She is currently being treated at Victoria Hospital.
Hanumanthnagar police have booked Amresh for attempted murder and confirmed his arrest.
Officials also stated that two cases linked to domestic disputes between the couple had previously been registered at the same police station.
Further investigation is underway.
