'Kya hua tera vada': PM Modi mocks Congress over unfulfilled poll promises to Himachal amid financial woes
Hisar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress as a "dishonest party" during a Jan Ashirwad rally in Hisar, Haryana, urging voters to scrutinize the party's track record in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, media report said.
“See what they have done in Himachal. During the polls, they made promises you cannot imagine, and now they are running away from them,” NDTV quoted him as saying.
PM Modi's remark comes amid the Congress' alleged failure to deliver on its commitments after coming to power.

"People are now telling Congress, 'Kya hua tera vada (What happened to your promise),' and Congress is responding with 'tum kaun (who are you)?'" PM Modi remarked during his third rally in the state, taking a jibe at the party’s unfulfilled promises.
The Prime Minister also accused Congress of entrapping the people of Himachal Pradesh with false assurances.
“Delhi’s royal family trapped people of Himachal in their lies. Today, they don’t even have a budget to pay salaries and DA to employees,” he said, referencing the state's financial struggles under Congress rule.
Two months ago, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu acknowledged the state's financial issues during a session of the state Assembly, announcing a two-month deferment of salaries for himself, ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPS), and MLAs.
However, he later denied any financial crisis, contradicting his earlier statement.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Sukhu told the Assembly that the delay was part of the government’s efforts to enforce fiscal prudence and promised that salaries would be paid on time starting from the next cycle.
Meanwhile, at a manifesto launch in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi promised that the Congress' "incoming government" in Haryana would end the "decade of pain" and vowed to fulfill the aspirations of the state's people.
Key promises included establishing a commission for farmers' welfare, providing Rs 2 crore for the families of soldiers killed in action, promoting labour-intensive industries for job creation, and reconstituting the Haryana Minority Commission.
PM Modi also accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, claiming the BJP government in Haryana was procuring 24 crops on MSP, while in Congress-ruled states, only one or two crops were purchased at MSP.
“Can farmers trust such deceitful Congress? Haryana has faith only in BJP,” he said.
Advocating for a "non-stop" Haryana, the Prime Minister asserted that the people have decided to bring the BJP to power for a third consecutive term.
He further criticized the Congress for internal instability, stating that infighting made stability a distant dream for the party.
"Everyone in the party is jostling to become the chief minister in Haryana, with 'Bapu' (Bhupinder Singh Hooda) and 'Beta' (Deepender Hooda) also in the race. Where there is Congress, there can never be stability," he said, pointing out the party’s internal conflict.
The election for the 90-member Haryana Assembly is scheduled for October 5, with votes to be counted on October 8.
