Modi to visit Israel: India at centre of talks as Netanyahu proposes 'hexagon' alliance
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the formation of a new regional alliance aimed at countering Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood, according to media reports.
The announcement was made during an address at a Shin Bet leadership conference, coinciding with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country.
Netanyahu said the emerging alliance “includes many countries,” signalling a broader strategic realignment in the region.
“Some visit us, even these days. Some — we visit them. I am talking about an entire circle that encompasses the Middle East,” he was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel.
On the situation in Gaza, Netanyahu asserted that Hamas must be disarmed. “It will happen the easy way, or it will happen the hard way, but it will happen,” he said, underscoring Israel’s firm stance on the issue.
On Sunday, Netanyahu said he had described a proposed “hexagon of alliances” which he says would include Israel, India, Greece and Cyprus, along with other unnamed Arab, African and Asian states.
“In the vision I see before me, we will create an entire system, essentially a ‘hexagon’ of alliances around or within the Middle East,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera.
“The intention here is to create an axis of nations that see eye to eye on the reality, challenges, and goals against the radical axes, both the radical Shia axis, which we have struck very hard, and the emerging radical Sunni axis.”
In a separate X post mentioning his interaction with Cabinet, Netanyahu had said, " This morning, at the opening of our Cabinet meeting, I spoke about the historic visit of my dear friend, Prime Minister @narendramodi, to Israel this coming Wednesday."

" The bond between Israel and India is a powerful alliance between two global leaders. We are partners in innovation, security, and a shared strategic vision. Together, we are building an axis of nations committed to stability and progress," he said.
At Netanyahu’s invitation, Modi is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Wednesday. During the visit, he will hold bilateral talks with Netanyahu, according to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The two leaders are expected to review the progress achieved under the India–Israel Strategic Partnership and explore further avenues of cooperation across key sectors, including science and technology, innovation, defence and security, agriculture, water management, trade and the economy, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Modi will also call on Isaac Herzog during the visit.
“The leaders are also expected to exchange perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the statement added.
