Non-veg food barred across Ayodhya Dham, online delivery platforms warned

The ban also extends to online food delivery services, with authorities warning of strict action against hotels and delivery platforms found violating the directive.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said non-vegetarian food will no longer be served or delivered in the holy town.

“Non-vegetarian food has been banned from being served in hotels and restaurants in Ayodhya Dham. Despite the restrictions, online deliveries were still taking place through various platforms. We are ensuring that meat is neither served nor delivered through online platforms in these areas,” he said.

The Food Commissioner added that hotels and delivery services must strictly adhere to the rules, failing which punitive action will be initiated.

Authorities will also monitor online platforms tied up with local hotels to ensure compliance.

The decision has been welcomed by sections of the hospitality industry. Shubham Srivastava, a hotel general manager in Ayodhya, said the move would help preserve the sanctity of the temple town.

“Consumption of non-vegetarian food is prohibited in our holy scriptures and is considered a sin in our religion. We appreciate this ban and are committed to maintaining the spiritual purity of Ayodhya Dham by not serving non-vegetarian food in our hotel,” he said.

Officials said the move is aimed at aligning civic regulations with Ayodhya’s cultural and religious identity, while respecting the sentiments of pilgrims visiting the city following the inauguration of the Ram Temple.

Earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off a group of Ram devotees for Ayodhya Dham, calling the pilgrimage a reflection of Sanatan faith, cultural unity and spiritual consciousness.

Around 35–40 devotees departed from the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan on Raj Niwas Marg as part of a pilgrimage organised by the Valmiki Chaudhary Sarpanch Committee, allowing devotees to offer prayers at the newly constructed Ram Temple.

Speaking at the event, Gupta said visiting Ayodhya and seeking Lord Ram’s darshan was a deeply spiritual and transformative experience. She described the Ram Temple, constructed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, as a historic achievement and a symbol of India’s cultural resurgence rooted in Sanatan values.
