Speaking to the media, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, said the intensity of a potential “Operation Sindoor 2.0” would exceed the previous military action.

“The response will be stronger than what we have done in Operation Sindoor. How much we respond and to what level we go will depend on the situation prevailing at that particular time. But we are very sure that the response will be harsher than last time,” Lt Gen Katiyar said.

Katiyar said that during Operation Sindoor, Indian forces struck terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, and when Pakistan retaliated, India responded by targeting its military and air bases.

He added that Pakistan later sought a ceasefire, both directly and through other countries, indicating it was unable to sustain the confrontation.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to avenge the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

The operation, conducted from May 7 to 10, targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to official statements, nine terrorist camps were destroyed within 25 minutes. The targeted facilities were described as major training hubs of Pakistan-based terror outfits including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen.

A statement issued by the Press Information Bureau said the operation aimed to neutralise terror camps actively involved in planning and executing attacks against India.
