PM Modi inaugurates 13-km stretch of Namo Bharat corridor connecting Sahibabad in UP with Delhi's New Ashok Nagar
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 13-km section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Sunday, connecting Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh with New Ashok Nagar in Delhi.
As part of the event, PM Modi boarded a Namo Bharat train at Sahibabad station and travelled to New Ashok Nagar station, interacting with children and other passengers along the way.

The opening of this section in Delhi marks the introduction of Namo Bharat trains to the national capital, further expanding the RRTS network.
The 55-kilometre RRTS corridor, stretching from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South with Rs stations, has now become operational. Passenger services are set to commence at 5 pm, with trains running at 15-minute intervals.

Travelling from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South will cost Rs150 for a standard coach ticket and Rs 225 for a premium coach ticket.
This development follows the inauguration of the 17-kilometre priority stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, which was opened on October 20 last year.
The newly inaugurated 13-kilometre segment includes a 6-kilometre underground section, featuring Anand Vihar station, a critical transit hub that connects the Blue and Pink Lines of the Delhi Metro, a railway station, and a bus terminal.
This section also marks the first instance of Namo Bharat trains operating on an underground route within Delhi. Additionally, the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station offers an interchange with the Delhi Metro's Blue Line.
With the opening of this new RRTS section, Delhi and Meerut are now seamlessly connected, reducing travel time by two-thirds.
The journey from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South can now be completed in under 40 minutes, providing a faster and more efficient transit option.
The 82-kilometre Namo Bharat corridor connects Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut.
It comprises 16 Namo Bharat stations and nine Meerut Metro stations, offering an integrated and transformative regional transit experience.
