S Jaishankar visits France, meets President Emmanuel Macron

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and thanked him for France’s strong message of support in the fight against terrorism.

S Jaishankar is currently visiting France, EU and Belgium from June 8-14.
India and France have completed 25 years of strategic partnership.
Before arriving in France, Jaishankar travelled to Belgium.
During the visit, he called on His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium, and Prime Minister Bart De Wever and held delegation level talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot.
On the European Union (EU) side, EAM called on President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
He co-chaired the first India-EU Strategic Dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, and met European Commissioners for Defence Industry and Space Andrius Kubilius, Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic, and International Partnerships Jozef Sikela.
During his call on President von der Leyen, EAM conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both sides reiterated their shared ambition of concluding a balanced, ambitious and mutually beneficial FTA by the end of this year.
They expressed satisfaction with the growing impetus in relations including in the areas of trade, technology, defence and security, skills, talent mobility and connectivity and discussed the way ahead for the next India-EU Summit.
Furthermore, it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) before the upcoming Summit.
