Sandeshkhali, Murshidabad incidents are posters of Mamata Banerjee regime: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav

Kolkata/IBNS: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav on Tuesday said the atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali and communal riots in Malda and Murshidabad districts are the posters of the Mamata Banerjee regime and a reflection of the Trinamool Congress government's administrative failures in West Bengal.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Yadav said, "Sandeshkhali, Malda and Murshidabad incidents are the posters of the Mamata Banerjee regime. These incidents reflect her administrative failures."

While erstwhile TMC strongman Sheikh Shahjahan was arrested in the Sandeshkhali incident last year, the Calcutta High Court-appointed fact-finding committee has reported that local ruling party councillor Mehoob Alam was involved in the Murshidabad riots.

Yadav also touched upon the School Service Commission (SSC) scam that led the Supreme Court to cancel recruitments of almost 26,000 teaching and non-teaching staff, who were appointed on the basis 2016 panel.

"The Mamata Banerjee regime is marked by the SSC scam that has led to the annulment of 26,000 jobs," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.

Yadav, who is the Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, trained his guns at the TMC government in Kolkata, where he toured to hold a briefing on the Modi government's completion of 11 years in power at the Centre, on multiple fronts.

The minister has slammed Mamata, who also heads the TMC, for not acting against infiltration, which the BJP claims is changing the demography of the state that borders Bangladesh, which is hit by political turmoil and marred by anti-Hindu atrocities.

"Mamata Banerjee is running away from her responsibilities. The biggest reason for infiltration is law and order, which is a state subject. It is the duty of every state government to act against infiltration. She is non-cooperative," Yadav said.

"Infiltration and appeasement are two different issues, which Mamata Banerjee never allows to remain separate. All people can't be fooled forever. People of Bengal have identified Mamata Banerjee's true face," he added.

Alleging non-cooperation by West Bengal, Yadav said, "Mamata Banerjee's government has opposed all anti-infiltration laws passed by the Centre. She has never cooperated with the Centre and misused the ways to solve the problem politically. The double standards don't work in politics so people of Bengal will give a befitting reply to her when time comes."

The Modi government completed his 11th year in office and first year since it returned to power with a compulsory support of his allies in the backdrop of May 7-10 Operation Sindoor, a fierce military action that the Indian Armed Forces conducted to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

"Operation Sindoor has not only proved that India's borders are secure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership but has also shown to the world that India is capable of hitting back at the enemies hard in case of any cowardly attack," Yadav said days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah toured West Bengal and sounded the poll bugle in the state.

West Bengal is expected to head to the assembly elections in April-May next year.
