Six drug peddlers including women arrested with Heroin worth Rs. 1.5 lakh
As part of continuous anti-drug operations of Tripura police, the crackdown against drug smuggling has on Friday got another success in Agartala and police managed to arrest six peddlers including two women and seized large quantities of Heroin under their possessions.
Giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy along with OC of West Agartala police station said that recently a gang of drug smugglers and peddlers started expanding their network in Battala Howrah market.
Based on the information of a contingent of police forces led by OC of West Agartala police station, Paritosh Das raided that market during distribution of drugs among the peddlers. Police team managed to arrest four drug peddlers from that spot and has also recovered two packets of Heroin under their possessions, worth of Rs. 1.5 lakh, said Roy.
Later, interrogation of four arrested peddlers including Ramu Das, Abinash Debnath, Animesh Ghosh and Sanju Debnath, police get their information of two women gang members and have also arrested theirm from their hideouts, said Roy and added that arrested two women drug peddlers were identified as Pinki Das and Puja Ghosh.
He said all arrested drug peddlers were produced before a local court with police remand appeals in a specific case registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 for interrogation to get the details of drug selling networks.
Roy said that this operation underscores the police’s commitment to eradicate the drug menace from the society and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
