Supreme Court slams Karnataka HC judge over 'Pakistan', 'undergarment' remarks, seeks report
New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court has slammed Karnataka High Court judge, Justice Vedavyasachar Srishananda, over his controversial remarks referring to "Pakistan" and "undergarment" in a court hearing, media reports said.
Justice Srishananda referred to a Muslim-majority area in Bengaluru as "Pakistan". The video of his remark went viral as the court proceedings are now live-streamed.
The same judge told a female lawyer that she has knowledge about her opponent to an extent that she even knows the colour of his undergarment.
A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said there is a need to establish clear guidelines for constitutional court judges over their remarks in the courtroom.

"We may lay down some basic guidelines," he added.
The CJI has asked the Karnataka High Court to file the report within two days. The hearing of the case will be held next Wednesday.
