Trouble for Bengal BJP MLA Hiran Chatterjee? First wife files complaint with cops over his second marriage
Kolkata/IBNS: Actor-turned-politician Hiran Chatterjee’s first wife, Anindita Chatterjee, approached the police on Wednesday night after news of his second marriage became public, media reports said.
The controversy erupted after Hiran, a BJP MLA from Kharagpur, posted pictures of his wedding with Ritika Giri at the Varanasi ghats.
The post, which has since been deleted, prompted Anindita to allege that she was still legally married to Hiran when he remarried.
She claimed Hiran often visited Kolkata from his constituency, staying with her and their daughter.
According to The Telegraph, the Anandapur Police Station will file a First Information Report (FIR) based on Anindita’s complaint.
The dispute escalated after Ritika responded on Instagram, denying claims about her age — which Anindita said was nearly the same as her young adult daughter — and stating that she had been living with Hiran for the last five years.
Ritika also mentioned that Anindita had been served a legal notice seeking divorce and said: “She should take a legal step if it seems our marriage is illegal. I have nothing more to say on this.”
Anindita, however, maintained that there was no legal separation between her and Hiran.
