Cachar: Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Customs Department and Cachar Police, seized Yaba tablets worth around Rs 45 crore in Cachar district of Assam, dealing a major blow to an inter-state narcotics trafficking network.
Acting on specific inputs, the joint team intercepted a vehicle near Lalpani in Cachar district on September 8. Taking advantage of darkness, the driver allegedly attempted to move through the area without being detected. However, the alert personnel intercepted the vehicle and recovered approximately 1,50,000 Yaba tablets from it.
During the operation, one Tata truck bearing registration number MN-03 T0981 and a mobile handset were also seized. One person was apprehended in connection with the case.
The apprehended individual along with the seized narcotics and other items was handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The successful operation highlighted the effective coordination and synergy among Assam Rifles, the Customs Department and Cachar Police in combating inter-state narcotics trafficking.
The seizure further reaffirmed the commitment of the joint forces to disrupt illicit drug supply chains and protect communities from the growing menace of narcotics.
