Bachchan shared glimpses from the shoot alongside Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, confirming that the much-anticipated sequel has officially gone on floors.

In his blog, the 83-year-old actor also mentioned that fans gathered outside his Mumbai residence on Sunday as part of their weekly tradition, despite him informing them in advance that he would be shooting in Hyderabad.

“told them that this Sunday I shall not be able to come, since I was shooting in Hyderabad .. but still they come .. to confirm ..,” Bachchan wrote, adding, “but apologies .. work first .. rest later ..”

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sequel also features Prabhas in a key role alongside Bachchan and Haasan. The film had earlier drawn attention after Bollywood star Deepika Padukone reportedly walked out of the project amid buzz over her demand for an eight-hour work schedule.

The makers, Vyjayanthi Movies, had hinted at the development with a cryptic remark about “commitment.” According to reports, actress Sai Pallavi is likely to replace Deepika in the sequel.

Released on June 27, 2024, Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.

The epic science-fiction drama blends dystopian futurism with mythology and revolves around Kalki, the prophesied tenth avatar of Lord Vishnu, destined to appear at the end of Kali Yuga to restore dharma.

In the original film, Deepika played Sumathi, a pregnant woman whose unborn child is believed to be Kalki—the saviour foretold to change the fate of the world.
