Australia mount pressure on India after posting huge total in Brisbane
Brisbane/IBNS: The Australian bowlers cornered India on the rain-interrupted third day's play of the third Test as the visitors were reduced to 51/4 at stumps on Monday.

After posting a mammoth total of 445, Australia removed the top and middle order batting almost entirely leaving India in a spot of bother.

India suffered an early setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Mitchell Starc, who picked two wickets in total so far, in the second ball of the innings.

After Starc got rid of Shubman Gill in the third over, Australia made the situation further complicated for India by removing veteran Virat Kohli and unorthodox wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.

Kohli, whose performance remained flat except a hundred in Perth in this series, was again dismissed in an off-stump ball by Josh Hazlewood drawing flak on social media over his choice of shot selection.

Pant, who is known for some unconventional shots, was sent back to pavilion by Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

KL Rahul, who is looking steady at unbeaten 30 from 52 balls, will come out to bat with skipper Rohit Sharma (0) when play resumes on Tuesday.

Earlier, Australia finished their first innings at 445, courtesy Travis Head's 152 from 160 balls and Steven Smith's 101 from 190 balls.

Alex Carey, who was the overnight batter, slammed a quick 70 from 88 balls to help the hosts inch closer to the 450-mark.

Jasprit Bumrah picked six wickets for 76 runs to become the best bowler for India.

The five-match series of Border Gavaskar Trophy is levelled at 1-1.
