Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who breached the 90m mark at the Commonwealth Games in 2022, also qualified for the javelin throw final with his season-best throw of 86.59 m.

This was India's second medal win on Thursday with the Indian men's hockey team earlier bagging the bronze medal at the Olympics.

With this, India's present medals tally stands at five. Manu Bhaker registered the first medal for India with a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol individual event.

She and Sarabjot Singh won bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event. Bhaker became the first Indian to win more than one medal in a single Olympics edition.
