Ahmedabad/IBNS: India white-washed England in the One Day International [ODI] series 3-0 in a big boost to the team ahead of Champions Trophy.

India triumphed over England in the third and final ODI by 142 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Shubman Gill slammed his seventh ODI century catapulting India to 356 in 50 overs.

Gill, who hit 14 fours and 3 sixes, scored 112 off 102 balls marking his consistency in the series.

The right-handed batter was a part of two century partnerships, 116 with Virat Kohli and 104 with Shreyas Iyer for the second and third wicket respectively.

Jubilation as @ShubmanGill gets to a fine CENTURY!

Keep at it, young man

England could not leverage India captain Rohit Sharma's early exit in the afternoon as Gill was joined by Kohli, who returned to form with 52 which was an exhibition of his vintage shots.

Kohli's departure too could not dampen India's flow of runs as Iyer kicked the accelerator further to quickly score 78 off 64 balls.

England's last hope to pull back things was also ruined when KL Rahul, who has the reputation of succeeding in any batting slot, dominated the slog overs with his 29-ball 40.

England spinner Adil Rashid picked four wickets including the ones of Gill, Iyer and Kohli but could not prevent the home team from crossing the 350-mark.

India's combined effort with the ball bowled out England for 214 though the visitors in the evening started off their mammoth run chase with a soaring strike rate.

England's run chase, which was progressing at a run rate of almost 10, started crumbling when Ben Duckett [34 off 22 balls] and Philip Salt [23 off 21 balls] were sent back to the hut by Arshdeep Singh.

The Indian bowlers in combination kept on hurting England at regular intervals in a bid to see off the guests early.

Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya shared two wickets each while Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar, who were picked for the final match, clinched one each.
