Dangiwacha/Jammu & Kashmir: In a momentous occasion that shattered gender norms, the picturesque town of Dangiwacha hosted the first-ever Women's Cricket League, igniting a wave of empowerment and triumph for women in sports.

Organized by the 'We Care Foundation' in collaboration with the army, the 'North Kashmir Women's Premier League' aimed to provide equal opportunities to women cricketers and propel them into the spotlight.

The tournament featured twelve teams from various corners of Kashmir, who showcased their talent and passion for the game throughout fifteen exhilarating matches, including nail-biting semi-finals and finals.

With the teams carefully curated into four pools, the tournament exemplified the diversity and dedication of women cricketers. The Game Swingers, Legends Sports Club, and GDC Women's Sopore dominated Pool A, while Majestic Sports Club, Handwara Red Wings, and RPS Dangiwacha battled it out in Pool B.

Pool C witnessed a display of skills from Budgam Strikers, Elegant Strikers, and Glorious Strikers, whereas Pool D showcased the prowess of Pattan Warriors, SRM Welkin Sopore, and HSS Dangiwacha.

Insha Mushtaq, captain of the Game Swingers, expressed her awe at the opportunity they were granted. Cricket, a beloved sport that had seemed unattainable, now became a platform for them to shine.

Noreen Khan, representing the Budgam Strikers, echoed the sentiment shared by many. The long-awaited tournament provided a platform for girls to showcase their skills and talents, thanks to unwavering support from parents and the local community.

Ulfat Mushtaq, the driving force behind this groundbreaking league, emphasized the importance of empowering women through sports. The tournament aimed to unveil the true potential of young women, acknowledging their abundant talent.

As matches unfolded on the revered grounds of Dangiwacha, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. People from all walks of life flocked to witness history in the making, celebrating the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment within women's cricket.

Beyond the excitement of the game, tangible rewards awaited the winners. The champions would receive a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, while the runners-up would be awarded Rs. 15,000.

Additionally, individual players had the chance to earn accolades such as "Woman of the Series" and "Woman of the Match" in each event, recognizing their exceptional talent.

The Women's Cricket League transcended the boundaries of sports, becoming a beacon of progress and change in the region. It paved the way for a future where gender would no longer determine one's opportunities.

The resounding success of the league affirmed the belief that women could excel in any field they chose, propelling society toward inclusivity.
