World Cup 2023: PCB files formal complaint against Ahmedabad crowd's behaviour during India Vs Pak match

By IBNS
Oct 18, 2023..

The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially complained to the ICC about what they consider inappropriate conduct from the crowd in Ahmedabad towards Pakistan players during their World Cup 2023 match against India.

It also lodged a formal protest with the cricket governing body about the delays in providing visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a clear visa policy for Pakistan fans attending the ongoing tournament.

The Ahmedabad match not only witnessed a poor performance from Pakistan's batting and an impressive display from India.

Since then, discussions have been going on about the conduct of the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

During the toss, Pakistan captain Babar Azam encountered jeers from the Ahmedabad crowd, which was particularly noticeable as he was about to share his assessment of the toss and pitch conditions.

After Pakistan's defeat to India, the team's director, Mickey Arthur, made a pointed comment, suggesting that the match seemed more like a BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) affair than an ICC (International Cricket Council) one, pointing out the absence of Pakistani fans.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023. The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023," read the statement.
