10 more Bangladesh nationals held in Agartala by BSF

Infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura remained unabated and on Friday 10 more Bangladesh nationals were detained from Agartala by BSF for their illegal entry into India by Tripura police and BSF.

BSF through a press statement said on Friday afternoon based on specific input regarding illegal crossing over to Bangladesh, a special operation was launched in the area of BOP Akhaura Check Post and at the same time deployed troops were also alerted.

Alert BSF patrolling party noticed  suspicious movement close to border fencing near Indian village Sanmura under West Tripura district . Further 10 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended while trying to illegally cross over to Bangladesh. Preliminary questioning is being carried out by BSF.

The successful apprehension of Bangladeshi nationals is outcome of alertness of BSF troops and enhanced vigil along the border.

Earlier, on Thursday eight Bangladeshi nationals, including two women and two Indian touts were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel at the Agartala railway station before they could board the train to move to some other states in India.

Over the last two-and-a-half months, more than 180 Bangladeshi nationals and 32 Rohingyas were arrested by the GRP, Border Security Force (BSF), and Tripura Police from the Agartala railway station and various other places in Tripura after they illegally entered India.
