13 more Bangladeshi including woman, transgender held in Tripura

Amidst turmoil in Bangladesh, the infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura remained unstoppable and now 13 more Bangladesh nationals including a woman and two trans gender were arrested by BSF and police for their illegal entry into India. Though 11 have entered Indian territory, before the August 5th incident in Bangladesh and  they planned to retreat into their native country, but police and border guards managed to arrest them.

BSF sources said that in the night intervening August 6th and 7th, 2024 on specific information of BSF regarding presence of Bangladesh nationals in general area  Gajaria under AD Nagar police station of  West Tripura district, a joint operation was planned and carried out along with team of police personnel near at Jama Masjid, Muslim Para area of  Gajaria,  in which total eight  Bangladeshi , including one woman tout were arrested.

 During initial questioning it was revealed that they were planning to enter Bangladesh.

In another incident, two more Bangladeshi transgenders were arrested by BSF from Dharmanagar inter-state bus stand before boarding a Guwahati bound bus.

Police sources said that BSF jawans in plain clothes after noticing suspected movements of two Bangladeshi trans gender, identified as Prema Chowdhury (26) of Barishal and Kusum Mim (20) of Narayanganj districts of Bangladesh were detained and handed over to them of police for further legal proceedings.

On Wednesday afternoon both arrested Bangladeshi were produced before a local court of Dharmanagar under Indian Passport Act and court sent them into judicial custody up to August 9th.

In another case, 3 Bangladesh nationals were apprehended at Mobile Check Post in general area Amtali jointly laid by BSF troops along with a team of Amtali  police station.

In a separate incident, BSF seized 10,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 50 lakh in another joint operation from  Motorcycle in the area of Kalamchowra border outpost (BOP) under Sepahijala district .

In another case on specific information of the BSF , a joint operation was carried out by BSF troops of BOP Srinagar and a team of PS Srinagar near Indian village Krishna Nagar. During joint operation 9500 packets of Cigarettes (PATRON & ORIS) worth Rs 20 lakh, 63 thousand recovered from a rubber garden.

BSF with active assistance  of  Tripura Police and other sister agencies has intensified the domination on border and hinterland to prevent attempts of Infiltration/ exhilaration and trans border crime .
