ADC Elections: Re-poll ordered at Nanda Kumar Para polling station amid allegations of violence
The Tripura State Election Commission has ordered a re-poll at a polling station under the 11-Maharanipur Teliamura (ST) District Council Constituency following reports of violence and disruption during voting.
According to an official press note, the decision was taken after serious incidents were reported at Polling Station No. 11/5 – Nanda Kumar Para JB School, where the polling process was allegedly vitiated. Reports from the District Election Officer, Superintendent of Police (Khowai), SDPO, and the Returning Officer indicated that a group of individuals, reportedly linked to a rival political party, assaulted a polling agent, severely affecting his ability to perform duties.
The incident also created fear and panic among voters, particularly discouraging participation in the latter half of polling hours, thereby compromising the fairness of the election process.
Taking the matter seriously, the Commission declared the poll at the affected station void and announced that a re-poll will be conducted on April 16, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Authorities have assured that adequate security arrangements will be put in place to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful voting process.
In addition to this development, polling took place in the following stations under the constituency:
10/3 – Bhatimaidan S.B. School
10/17 – Ramdeb Thakur Para S.B. School (W/W)
11/5 – Nanda Kumar Para JB School
17/39 – Hirapur S.B. School
The Commission has urged all political parties, candidates, and voters to cooperate in maintaining the integrity and sanctity of the electoral process.
