AIKS, CITU observed Quit India movement, slams govt for corporate appeasement policies

In order to mark the 82nd anniversary of Quit India Movement, also known as the Bharat Chhodo Andolan, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Wednesday organized a large rally in Agartala raising slogans in favour of their demand ‘corporate looters, Quit India’ to show their protest against alleged protected pro-corporate policies of the Union government.

After the protest rally, which passes various thoroughfares of Agartala, AIKS, Tripura unit secretary and former MLA Pabitra Kar said that the union government is conspiring with crony monopolists to promote control by corporate and MNCs over the national natural resources like forest, rivers and other water resources and farm lands, leading to vast sections of farmers, who constitute more about 52% of the India’s population. And , they will be uprooted and displaced from their lives and livelihoods and be forced to become migrant workers, living and working in slave-like conditions, alleged Kar.

While, addressing a gathering after their rally at Paradise Choumohani , CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said that both CITU and AIKS in a letter to the President of India, Draoupadi Murmu through District Magistrate (DM) submitted their various demands in support of farmers and other weaker sections of the society.

He said that before independence, the way the British have looted the nation, in a similar way , the union government led by Narendra Modi through corporate appeasement policies are giving  chances to corporate to loot the country.

Highlighting the significance of the Quit India movement on August 9th, 82 years ago, Chaudhury also alleged that ruling BJP through religious division policies are also helping the corporates. He also slammed the BJP government for violence in Manipur.

Mentioning the women atrocities held in Manipur , Kar said that  Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) had adopted a resolution on the Manipur violence demanding removal of the Chief Minister N Biren Singh and to establish peace and tranquility at the earliest. They also urged for formation of a Judicial Commission to probe the entire gamut of issues under the guidelines of the Supreme Court.
