AIKS demand for measures to allow Indian farmers to continue their agriculture outside border fence
AIKS demand for measures to allow Indian farmers to continue their agriculture outside border fence
The All India Krishak Sabha (AIKS) submitted a memorandum before the Chief Secretary of Tripura demanding adequate measures by the government to allow Indian farmers to continue their farming in the Indian fields fallen outside the barbed wire fencing erected in the Indo-Bangla border.
Addressing a press conference at ‘Krishak Bhavan’ in Agartala, AIKS leader Pabitra Kar highlighting destruction of crop and vegetable fields of farmers claimed that the vegetable fields of a vegetable farmer were destroyed by the attack of miscreants. The gourd fields of Jolaibari's Rakhal Nama and Sanjeev Nama were not saved from the miscreants. These brutal atrocities on farmers have shaken the Chief Minister of the state.
The Chief Minister condemned this incident on his social media and said that this incident in Jolaibari will not be tolerated. At the same time, he also condemned the way miscreants destroyed the paddy fields of farmer Durga Munda of Ishanpur in Sadar Uttaranchal, said Kar and added that the Chief Minister on social media said that his party does not support this attack on farmers who are food suppliers.
Welcoming the statements made by the Chief Minister, Kar said that although the CM had talked about measures against the miscreants, he ordered the district administration to stand by the affected farmers and help them.
Kar condemned the incident of miscreants destroying the vegetable and paddy fields of farmers. He said that after the change of government in 2018, the members of the State Krishak Sabha were faced with the destruction of their agricultural fields, vegetable fields, rubber gardens one after another and put the farmers in misery.
"The Chief Minister has condemned this heinous attack on farmers, which is a good thing. We applaud him. If this had been done a few years ago, the state's agricultural economy would not have been in this dire state,” said Kar.
“However, even if it is late, the Chief Minister has understood the importance of the matter, for which I will definitely thank him and demand strict action against the miscreants," said Kar.
Kar said that the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura is 856 kilometers. Out of this, barbed wire fence has been constructed on the remaining 829.30 kilometers except for 26.64 kilometers and the barbed wire fence is supposed to be constructed 150 meters outside the border pillar, but it is seen that those who were in charge of constructing the fence, violating the principle of 150 meters outside the border pillar, have constructed this fence 500 meters outside in some places, 1 to 1.5 kilometers or two kilometers outside in some places.
For this, a large part of the Kanchanpur, Gandacherra, Longtharai, and Karbook subdivisions and entire West Tripura district, including the tribal Jumia families, are inside the barbed wire fence, said Kar.
AIKS demanded that all families living on the other side of the barbed wire fence should be given free movement. At the same time, the number of gates should be increased.
On Wednesday, this demand was presented to the Chief Secretary. The AIKS has demanded that the Chief Secretary immediately sit in a discussion with the District Magistrates of various districts, the state head of BSF, the SPs of the concerned district and those affected and take a firm decision. State Krishak Sabha president Aghore Debbarma was also present in the press meet.
