Assam Rifles celebrates Olympic Day with extravagant 3-day sports event
In a spirited celebration of Olympic Day, the Headquarters, 21 Sector Assam Rifles organized a vibrant three-day sports event from 20-22 June 2025, aimed at promoting fitness, camaraderie and Olympic values among military personnel and their families.
The event began on June 20th with an Officers’ Squash Competition and a Children’s Badminton Tournament, encouraging participation across generations. On June 21st, two engaging team events - a Basketball Match between 21 Sector Assam Rifles and 35 Assam Rifles and a Football Match between 21 Sector Assam Rifles and a local youth team were held, reflecting the spirit of teamwork, discipline and friendly competition. A Fun Cycling event was also conducted which saw immense participation from families and children of Agartala Garrison. The celebrations were enhanced on June 22 with a highly enthusiastic ‘Run for Fun’, which saw energetic participation from all military personnel, families and children present in the station.
The culmination of the 3-day event took place on 23 June 25, commemorating Olympic Day, when Brigadier Manish Rana, Commander, 21 Sector Assam Rifles awarded the winners and participants at Alpha Auditorium, Agartala and emphasized on the importance of sports in building physical resilience, mental toughness and unity within the forces and society.
He added that the enthusiastic participation highlighted the station’s commitment to holistic well-being and social cohesion.
The celebration served as a reminder that sports not only build strength but also foster unity and joy - values that resonate deeply with both the military and Olympic ideals.
