Assam Rifles conducts awareness lecture on international AIDS Day
Assam Rifles in conjunction with Tripura AIDS Control Society conducted an awareness lecture focusing on HIV/AIDS education at Assam Rifles garrison, Agartala today to mark the World AIDS Day. The event highlighted the importance of understanding the disease, its prevention, and eliminating associated stigma.
In the program, experts highlighted aspects including HIV's impact on the immune system, modes of transmission, and the critical role of early detection and treatment. The experts also explained before the audience about common myths and emphasized advancements in antiretroviral therapy, which enable those living with HIV to lead healthy lives.
Assam Rifles in a press statement said that the session encouraged open dialogue, with attendees actively participating and raising questions. The society called for collective efforts to foster awareness and build an inclusive community supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
This initiative underscored the message that combating HIV/AIDS requires both knowledge and empathy, reflecting the global commitment to ending the epidemic through education and compassion. Personnel’s from Assam Rifles and the civil populace benefitted from the lecture alike.
