Assam Rifles stand against post-flood disease threat in Tripura and Manipur
Following the recent flood rescue efforts in Tripura & West Manipur, normalcy is gradually being restored with displaced civilians returning to their homes. However, the stagnant water and increased humidity have created an environment conducive to mosquito borne diseases and sanitation related concerns, posing a serious health threat to the civilians. Assam Rifles in Tripura and West Manipur have initiated timely proactive interventions to control the spread of health-related diseases, particularly in flood prone areas.
On Thursday, Assam Rifles launched a comprehensive fogging operation in flood affected areas of Chandrapur and Resham Bagan, under Sadar Sub Division, West Tripura District. The drive, conducted in close coordination with the Civil Administration, aims to curb the spread of vector borne diseases including dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
Also, Assam Rifles carried out a medical camp in Dologaon Bazar, Kailashahar under Unakoti district. A total of 120 internally displaced people, due to floods, were screened in for various ailments and necessary treatment and distribution of medicines were carried out. An unconscious lady of 40 years old, Mausami was brought to the medical camp. Emergency treatment was given, finally restoring the vitals of the lady.
In West Manipur, medical camps and distribution of food supplies were carried out for the flood affected people in the areas of Kamranga and Chotabekra, Jiribam District and Tatbung, Tamenglong district. Screening in for various ailments along with medicine distribution was carried out for 184 flood affected people during medical camps in West Manipur and five families were provided free ration.
These timely and compassionate actions by Assam Rifles further strengthen it’s identity as the ‘Sentinels of North East’ always ready to serve and protect.
