Assam youth arrested for minor rape at a kiln in Bishramganj
Tripura police have arrested a 40-year-old man from Assam for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl sparking widespread outrage in a brick Kiln area.
Police sources said that the accused man was identified as Bakul Bura, a resident of Golaghat, Assam was taken into custody late Sunday night following a complaint filed by the victim’s family.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bishramganj police station, Subimal Debnath said that police acted swiftly after receiving the complaint and arrested the accused. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He added that accused Bura allegedly abducted the minor before sexually assaulting her in the Brick Kiln area. The victim’s family lodged a formal complaint on the night of May 25, prompting immediate action from law enforcement. A specific case under section- 65 (1)/87 of BNS and section 4 of POCSO Act registered at the police station and on Monday afternoon, police produced him before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court with police remand appeal.
This barbaric incident has triggered outrage among locals, with demands for strict legal action against the accused and they demanded that the perpetrator must face the strictest punishment to set an example.
Police assured that the investigation is going on in the fastest way and will ensure justice to the victim and her family.
