Assembly Speaker to be air-lifted in Bangalore on Monday, AIIMS experts’ reviews his condition
With little improvement of physical conditions, the Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Biswa Bandhu Sen, who suffered severe internal brain haemorrhage and on emergency operated in a private hospital at Agartala on Friday night will be air-lifted to a Bangalore based hospital on Monday morning.
Official sources said that on the request of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, two specialist experts from AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr Rajesh Kumar Singh (Neorologist ) and Dr Ramesh Sharanappa Doddamanion (Neorosurgeon) on Sunday arrived Agartala and visited ILS Hospital for an expert opinion.
The private (ILS) hospital through a medical bulletin said that they thoroughly examined the patient, reviewed his case with a team of treating doctors and also reviewed a fresh CT-Scan. The experts confirmed that the initial management and timely brain decompression surgery had been appropriately and adequately performed as per universal clinical protocols and commended the care of the hospital.
While, the new CT-Scan revealed probable fresh bleeding in the left fronto-temporo-parietal region of the brain, as well as in the right centrum semi-ovale. Though, his vital functions are being supported.
Sources added that soon after consultation with two health experts from AIIMS, New Delhi, the family members of Sen have expressed their wish to transfer him to Aster CMI Hospital in Hebbal of Bangalore for better treatment through an air-ambulance on Monday morning.
It may be recalled here that Speaker Sen (72) suffered head injuries in the lavatory of the Agartala Railway Station on Friday evening before his scheduled journey to Dharmanagar in North Tripura, his home constituency. He was rushed to the nearby Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Hospital where emergency unit doctors conducted a medical examination, which revealed an internal brain haemorrhage and doctors have advised for immediate surgery. Upon requests from the family, the patient was referred to the private hospital in Agartala, where blood clots were removed from four spots of the brain and the surgery was successful.
However, the Speaker remains critical and he has remained on ventilator support with stable vital parameters and his neurological responses showed some movements.
