Aunt throws acid at nephew suspecting him a theft
In a strange and tragic incident, one aunt throws acid at her nephew suspecting him of theft and severely injures him at Ananda Bazar area of Dharmanagar under North Tripura district.
Sources said that an aunty allegedly threw acid at her nephew on suspicion of theft on Wednesday night. Later, severely injured nephew Sushanta Debnath was rescued by some villagers and shifted to Dharmanagar district hospital in critical condition.
After his condition deteriorated, the injured man was referred to GB Hospital on Thursday.
Police sources said that they have arrested the accused aunt, identified as Kajoli Nath. The victim, Sushanta Debnath, also a resident of Anand Bazar in Dharmanagar, is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital and at present he is out of danger.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night. Speaking to the media, the injured Sushanta Debnath stated that such an act was completely unjustified and that he is in serious condition. He demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. He added that the accused aunt owns a rubber plantation, and the acid used in the attack is typically used for rubber processing work.
