Chief Engineer of RD, Sagar Shobhan Debnath selected for IAS
Sagar Shobhan Debnath, Chief Engineer of the Rural Development department of Tripura, has been selected for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He has been selected under the Non-State Civil Service category.
Under this provision, the State government recommends the names of officers from various departments who, though not part of the State Civil Services, have demonstrated exceptional efficiency and maintained consistently outstanding service records. Based on available vacancies in this category, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions approved Debnath’s appointment to the IAS.
The government of India issued an official gazette notification regarding his appointment on December 1st. Sagar Shobhan Debnath is the son of Ranjit Kumar Debnath, a retired Director of School Education, and Jyotsna Rani Debnath, a retired teacher. A resident of Kalyani in Agartala, he passed his Higher Secondary examination from Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan in 1989, and later completed B.Tech from Tripura Engineering College in 1993.
