CM to launch ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ on May 29 to boost agricultural production

Tripura along with parts of the country will join the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” from May 29 next to raise awareness in villages and Gram Panchayats of all eight districts of the state about all state and centrally sponsored schemes for farmers.
Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath addressing a press conference at his official chamber at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon said that Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will inaugurate the fortnight long campaign at Sepahijala district on Thursday.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has initiated this mega campaign with an aim to boost agricultural production; the government will launch the central government’s ambitious nationwide Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from May 29 at 864 places across eight districts of Tripura
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a pan-India campaign announced by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi recently and it will cover 723 districts in the country, said Nath.
He said that three committees have been formed in every district of the state and everyday there will be 72 meetings with participation of at least 200 farmers and for the campaign the government will move 24 ‘Krishi Rath’ ( agriculture van).
The campaign is about how to hike agricultural production and resources, enhance income sources of farmers and reduce costs involved in agriculture, said Nath .
He added that the Union Agriculture minister, earlier on May 19 last held a virtual meeting with all the state Agriculture ministers of the country. The meeting was about Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, which will run from May 29 to June 12. As part of the campaign, awareness will be raised in villages and Gram Panchayats about all state and centrally sponsored schemes for farmers, he said.
Nath added that Tripura will have one state coordinator and there will be coordinators for the districts and the government is involving ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) and KVK (Krishi Vigyan Kendra) scientists in this campaign.
Every meeting will have details discussions over the government facilities for the welfare of farmers and will also highlight the steps to be taken for more growth in agriculture sector, said Nath and added that in all meeting , authorities from the departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, KVK, ICAR etc will participate to aware the farmers of the state.
