CPI (M) asked govt to clarify thirty party interventions over India-Pak ceasefire
CPI(M) General Secretary Mariam Alexander Baby's reacting on India and Pakistan ceasefire, raises doubt on why third party US President need to intervene in bilateral issues with neighboring countries.
Addressing a press conference at CPI(M) headquarters in Agartala on Sunday evening after a crucial state committee meeting of the party, Baby along with CPI(M) state secretary and politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury and party’s Central Committee member Manik Dey claimed that CPI(M) always believe in bilateral talk between India and Pakistan.
Condemning the dastardly Pahalgam attack and subsequent India’s retaliation over terrorist structure in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) and inside Pakistan, Baby said that problem unfolded in Western border of India with Pakistan due to terrorist activities. “CPI(M) always want peace between India and Pakistan and at the same time terrorism cannot be tolerated and all terrorsit responsible for killing of innocent civilians in Pahalgam must be brought under justice,” said Baby and added that during past three days escalations, all of sudden ceasefire declared by a third party.
“The Foreign Secretary of the country said that the DGMO of Pakistan contacted the Indian counterpart for a ceasefire and India accepted the same, but at the same time the US president also announced a ceasefire,” said Baby and demanded clarification from the government over the involvement of a third party in bilateral issues.
Pakistan should stop ceasefire violation and further escalations, said Baby and added that CPI() was also in favour of peace and also hoped that the ceasefire would continue.
While, mentioning their political strategies, Baby said that recently held 24th party Congress at Madurai, the party has taken a resolution that all secular force should come together to fight against ruling BJP and in coming assembly elections in Bihar, CPI(M)’s electoral approach will be in favour of ‘Maha Gatbandhan’.
The party Congress has also taken decisions to work systematically to regain its lost support in West Bengal and Tripura by strengthening the bases of the party, said Baby.
He also strongly criticized the ruling BJP for the alleged ‘pathetic’ situation of the state and claimed that a large section of the rural population are suffering from a crisis of food and jobs. He also appealed to people of the state to strengthen the Left movement across the state to protect the democratic rights of people.
