CPI (M)-Congress ‘unholy’ alliance will reject by people, Tripura BJP chief

Claiming the poll of opposition CPI (M) and Congress, a ‘unholy’ nexus to capture the power, state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee said that peace loving people of the state will reject them and will lose their poll deposits.

Addressing a press conference at Pradesh BJP headquarters at Agartala on Sunday afternoon, Bhattacharjee accompanied by Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, co-convener of state Lok Sabha election management committee, Dr Ashok Sinha and chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty said that the ‘unholy’ alliance among CPI(M) and Congress  will get the support of state’s people as people are very well aware their rule of violence and deprivation.

He said during 60 years rule of Congress, the Northeast region was the most deprived region of the country and Congress through its political gain divided the region through violence and insurgency. But, during the last ten years of Narendra Modi rule, the people of the region are getting fruits of overall development and peace prevailing in the region.

"With Tipra Motha joining the BJP-led alliance in Tripura, we are confident to win both Lok Sabha seats by a comfortable margin. We are working to rout the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha polls," he said.

The BJP has fielded former CM Biplab Kumar Deb in the Tripura West seat and Kriti Singh Debbarma, the elder sister of Tipra Motha ‘s supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, in the East Tripura ST reserved seat.

Bhattacharjee released a document detailing the "crimes" that took place during the CPI (M) and Congress governments in the state and added that people will reject the CPI(M)-Congress alliance as it did in 2023 and 2018.

Through his scathing attacks on INDIA Bloc, Bhattacharjee said that ‘it seems that former Chief Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar deviated from the ideology of Communist and now come out from house and urging voters to vote for Congress candidate Ashish Kumar Saha in West Tripura parliamentary seat. ‘It’s very unfortunate a tall communist leader and Chief Minister for four time are campaigning for a Congress candidate,’ said Bhattacharjee.

Bhattacharjee also rejected the argument that the CPI(M) joined hands with the Congress to "save democracy, constituency and secularism" and claimed that  they have joined hands together  to capture power, but the people will reject them in the elections.
