Crimes along India-B’desh border in Tripura have declined: Residents tell top BSF officials

Various crimes along the India-Bangladesh border villages in Tripura have significantly reduced due to the numerous efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF), border area residents claimed during their interactions with top BSF officials on Wednesday.

BSF Additional Director General (ADG), Eastern Command, Ravi Gandhi - as part of his three-day visit to Tripura - had an interactive session with residents of Bhagalpur, Narsingharh, Bamutia, and Kalkalia villages in western Tripura.

The residents expressed their deep appreciation for the BSF’s unwavering commitment to border security and community welfare.

A large number of men and women residents during the interactions acknowledged the significant reduction in crime along the border due to BSF’s proactive efforts and praised the force’s responsiveness in addressing key concerns, including connectivity, lighting in border areas, and border-gate management, which have significantly improved their quality of life.

Gandhi listened to the residents’ suggestions and assured them that BSF’s support in resolving critical issues would continue.

The ADG further assured the residents that the BSF remains committed to assisting them and would coordinate with concerned authorities to address their issues effectively.

Recognizing the need for essential services, the senior BSF official assured that the paramilitary force would organize educational and medical camps to ensure healthcare and learning opportunities reach the grassroots level.

Additionally, the ADG encouraged the youths to consider careers in the BSF and announced specialised training programs and skill development camps to help them prepare for recruitment.

A BSF spokesman said that the interaction reaffirmed BSF’s commitment to fostering strong ties with the border communities and positioning them as key stakeholders in the development of remote border areas.

On Tuesday, the ADG visited Border Outpost (BOP), Khantalang and BOP Pushparampara, the first all-women Prahari post in Tripura.

The spokesman said that during the visit, the ADG reviewed the operational preparedness of the outposts and interacted with the Mahila Praharis, including Post Commander (Sub-Inspector rank-woman) Sanju Ghasal.

He commended the women personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and resilience in managing security operations in one of the toughest terrains along the India-Bangladesh border.

During his three-day tour to Tripura, the ADG arrived in Tripura on Monday, separately met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and discussed the India-Bangladesh border-related issues.
