The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has submitted a deputation to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Cyber Crime, demanding action over the alleged circulation of obscene images on social media targeting several prominent Left leaders in Tripura.

According to the organization, several social media accounts have been posting obscene images involving Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, former minister Manik Dey and DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb.

The organization said that, in recent times, several Facebook accounts have particularly targeted Jitendra Chaudhury by circulating obscene images. It stated that specific cases had already been registered at several police stations across the state in connection with the matter.

However, DYFI alleged that the police had not taken any effective or proactive steps despite the complaints.

Seeking prompt intervention, a DYFI delegation met the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, on the issue and urged the authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for circulating the alleged content on social media. The delegation comprised DYFI state president Palash Bhowmik, state secretary Nabarun Deb, and state leaders Arindam Biswas, Ashim Sarkar and Prasanjit Deb.

The organization called for effective action to address the alleged misuse of social media and ensure accountability in the matter.
