Earth day celebrated with rally, awareness drive and community participation in Dhalai
Earth Day was observed with great enthusiasm and active participation at Ganganagar English Medium H.S. School, Ambassa, in Dhalai district. The programme was supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, and organized by the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.”
A key highlight of the celebration was an awareness rally in which nearly 52–60 participants, including students, teachers, and local volunteers, took part. The rally was conducted through the local bazaar, where participants interacted with shopkeepers and residents, spreading awareness about reducing plastic usage and adopting eco-friendly practices. The initiative received encouraging responses from the local community.
The programme also included a plantation drive, where teachers and students jointly planted saplings in and around the school premises, reinforcing the importance of greenery and environmental conservation.
An engaging PowerPoint presentation was conducted as part of the programme, with around 40–50 participants, including students, teachers, and invited guests. The session covered important topics such as plastic pollution, climate change, and sustainable living, and helped create a better understanding of environmental responsibilities among all attendees.
To encourage creativity and awareness among students, poster and drawing competitions were organized, with around 30–40 students participating enthusiastically. The winners were felicitated with certificates, trophies, and jute bags as a token of appreciation and to promote eco-friendly practices.
As mentioned on the event flex, Mr. Khamarai Reang (Block Advisory Committee Chairman) attended as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Anil Kr. Debbarma (Principal) was present as the Special Guest, motivating students and appreciating their efforts.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to work towards a cleaner and greener environment. Organizers emphasized that such grassroots initiatives play a vital role in building environmental awareness and inspiring sustainable practices among the younger generation.
