Fifteen more Bangladeshi and 5 Indian touts arrested from Indo-Bangla border areas for illegal entry

Amidst tight security along the India-Bangladesh border, the infiltration from the unrest hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and again on Friday 15 more citizens of the neighbouring country including, children women and five Indian human traffickers (tout) were arrested by the Border Security Forces from different parts of the state.

After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.

During the past two week, dozens of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas and human traffickers (Touts) were arrested from different parts of the state by security forces.

BSF of Tripura Frontier through a press statement said that on Thursday in a significant intelligence-based operation against illegal border crossing in the border area of Kailashahar under Unakoti district 13 Bangladeshi including three female, three male and seven children, and three Indian touts were apprehended.

All the Bangladeshi are resident of district Moulvibazar, Sunamgunj, Netragunj and Netrokona, Barisal in Bangladesh. Apprehended Indian touts are Kajal Das of Silchar of Assam, Ajit Das of Unakoti district and Prasanjit Debnath of Dhalai district of Tripura.

In a concerted effort to curb illegal cross-border activities, in the intervening night of February 27 and 28, a joint operation was conducted with Government Railway Police (GRP) at Agartala Railway Station. This operation led to the apprehension of two Indian nationals involved in facilitating the unauthorized entry of Bangladeshi into Indian territory.

Additionally on Thursday in special operation was launched in association with Tripura police in which two Bangladeshi Nationals were apprehended near old ONGC, when they were trying to cross over to Bangladesh.

BSF remains committed to maintain zero tolerance against illegal border crossings, human trafficking, and smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Such operations will continue to prevent illegal crossing of the international border.
