Five more Bangladeshi, 3 Indian arrested from Sabroom for crossing border

Amidst unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and again on Monday  BSF detained  five more citizens of the neighbouring country including three Indians from bordering Sabroom (South Tripura).

In the last two months, altogether 1346 Bangladesh nationals and 101 Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.

On Friday, the BSF apprehended two Rohingyas from a bus stand in the Karbook area in southern Tripura.

Giving details, BSF through a press statement said that on Monday after, three Indian and  five Bangladesh nationals were apprehended in a joint operation of BSF and police personnel from  Sabroom police station from Jalkumbha in South Tripura district.

All the three Indian nationals who were apprehended while  crossing the border, are residents of Baikhora, South Tripura district. All the Bangladeshi nationals are residents of village Jagannath of Ramgarh police station  Khagracheri in Bangladesh.

Preliminary inquiry is going on and detained Bangladeshi and Indian were handed over to Sabroom police station for further legal action, said BSF and added that they are  maintaining a high level of alertness in the international border to prevent infiltration

It may be recalled here that the bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication with help of Indian and Bangladeshi touts, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.

A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman said that the paramilitary forces are cracking down heavily on the illegal migration by Bangladeshi nationals and have stepped up the vigil in close coordination with sister agencies in the border area.

Officials said that all the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas illegally entered Tripura to board trains or buses to go to other states in India “in search of jobs”.
